- IMPORTANT CORRECTION: During the webinar, there was a question about whether or not the ePrescriptions reported had to be during face-to-face encounters with a patient. The answer given on the webinar was "no," and this is incorrect. The correct answer is that the there must be a covered Medicare fee schedule service furnished during the reporting period at the time the prescription is electronically prescribed. Also, refills during face-to-face patient encounters DO qualify as electronic prescribing while electronically generated refills that are NOT associated with a face-to-face patient visit DO NOT qualify.
- IMPORTANT UPDATE: On June 7, 2011, CMS issued a statement indicating that they would issue a proposed rule to better align the eRx Incentive Program with the Medicare & Medicaid Electronic Health Records (EHR) Incentive Programs, as well as suggestions to expand the significant hardship exemption categories.
